Olson Long Term Care Pharmacy is looking for motivated and dedicated individual to join our team of healthcare professionals who are committed to excellent care. We are looking for an experienced Pharmacy Technician to do prescription data entry, insurance billing and provide excellent customer service.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Input incoming orders into computer system in a timely, fast and accurate manner.
  2. Enter new and refill orders and discontinues orders according to client profile.
  3. Consult with pharmacist regarding prescription order clarification and drug interactions.
  4. Follow all applicable government regulations including HIPAA.
  5. Triage: sort and distribute incoming faxes to appropriate queues.
  6. Be familiar with all departments and related document types.
  7. Review orders for completeness: Order legality/readability and missing information
  8. Answer phone calls and direct to appropriate departments.
  9. Interact effectively with multiple departments via email and phone.
  10. Initiate and follow up on Prior Authorizations required by various insurance plans.
  11. Process all claim denials/rejections on a daily basis.
  12. Obtain overrides from insurance  Medicaid plans.
  13. Communicate with facilities and physicians regarding orders and patients.
  14. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by department supervisor.

Qualifications:
-              High School Graduate or equivalent
-              Current Oregon Pharmacy Technician License and National pharmacy technician Certification
-              Data Entry experience, preferred
-              1 + year(s) of pharmacy technician experience preferred; long term care pharmacy experience highly preferred.
-              Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language; effective communication skills
-              Detail oriented and ability to work at a fast pace, noisy/distracting environment; ability to work quickly and accurately
-              Under pressure and multi-tasks

 SHIFT 11am to 8pm WITH ROTATING WEEKENDS.

Position Summary

The Medical Records Technician maintains the pharmacy generated medical records component of customer charts at the centers serviced by the pharmacy. Included are physician order sheets (POS), medication administration records (MARs), treatment administration records (TARs), Electronic Medical Records (E-Mars), and other requested forms or reports. This will be done on a scheduled basis according to predetermined delivery times. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Enters all non-medication orders and some medication orders into customer specific profiles for assigned centers in the pharmacy computer system. Checks new admits, makes corrections, and deletes duplicate orders.
  • Responsibilities include inputting of prescriptions, allergies, and diagnosis
  • Maintains accurate records using quality control methods
  • Maintains professional association with assigned facilities and their staff
  • Receives physician order sheets and telephone order instructions and files for future archive storage.
  • Assists with conversions and new community start-ups along with the pharmacy data entry team as required. Supports the data entry team with ongoing feedback and training
  • Reviews and edits monthly physician order forms and telephone orders returned to the pharmacy. Inputs recap notations, order changes and other information provided relative to medical records.
  • Reviews each facility's requirements for medical records with the facility supervisor, pharmacy consulting staff, account management, DON, etc. to set up center specific medical records.

Education, Qualifications & Skills

  • High school education or its equivalent.
  • The successful applicant will have a current Oregon Pharmacy Technician's license and national certification
  • Ability to meet deadlines of scheduled delivery of medical administration records to facilities,
  • Must have the ability to multi-task. Attention to detail is a must
  • Experience in long term care pharmacy medical records data entry, medical terminology and medical coding. Working knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology required
  • General knowledge of pharmacy and long term care regulations as they pertain to monthly physician order sheets and medication administration records; knowledge may be gained through training.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to maintain composure on phone when handling customer calls.
  • Ability to perform accurately and efficiently when imputing information.
  • Intermediate typing/keyboarding skills. Excellent computer and telephone skills are needed to be successful in this position.
  • Must be willing to be an active part of a team program that requires


    Shift 8a-5:30pm first month of training, then schedule becomes flexible. Ongoing Schedule may change due to department requirements and priorities but will generally be Monday through Friday and alternating weekend days.

    Mandatory overtime may be involved.
